India Post has issued a special cover commemorating the revamped Clock Tower at Lal Chowk in Srinagar.

After its opening on August 14, the Clock Tower is Srinagar's latest tourism destination. The site is important in Kashmiri politics.

India Post @IndiaPostOffice released a special cover honoring Srinagar Smart City's Revamped Ghanta Ghar, Lal Chowk! Srinagar municipal corporation commissioner Athar Aamir Khan commented on “X” that it recognizes and celebrates the city's change.

Tourists and locals have been drawn to the tower's renovation since its debut. Businesspeople like the Smart City Project's European-local architecture.

In 1978, chief minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah requested the construction of Ghanta Ghar, the Clock Tower. Christians created a “Red Square” in Lal chowk before the tower, according to historians.

The Smart City Project, initiated in 2017, involves ₹2,869 crore for area-based development and ₹765 crore for pan-city solutions, according to an official.
